Platform Product Delivery Management (m/w/d) PaaS Infrastructure - Remote & Berlin/Frankfurt
Projektbewertung
Project:
The team is building an internal platform for software product developers to accelerate the development and delivery of software products to tackle the massive challenges facing the energy sector. The Platform is a service oriented, cloud-native platform that is being built to provide application teams with self-service capabilities to develop, run and operate their software products. Platform provides services for application infrastructure, data, service lifecycle management, application build and delivery as well as services to operate their software products. The Platform is deployed as a hybrid cloud, encompassing both private cloud and select public clouds.
General Description
The Delivery Program Line is responsible for the design, rollout, and continuous optimization of a software delivery function. To accelerate software delivery, the focus lies on optimizing engineering workflows, increasing automation levels, and introducing modern development tools—including AI-assisted capabilities. Development pipelines are structured to support rapid iteration, reliable test automation, and safe deployment, ensuring high-quality outputs with reduced lead times. Architectural and operational oversight is provided to proactively identify and resolve technical delivery risks. This includes performing deep technical analyses, prioritizing issues based on program impact, and implementing structural improvements informed by real-world usage and escalations. Feedback loops are continuously maintained to refine both the platform and the associated development practices, supporting sustainable growth across distributed engineering domains. This function is sitting in a Matrix organization where we influence the product delivery organization.
Objectives
Delivery Program Manager
Objective: Improve predictability of Product Delivery
– Define the end-to-end delivery flow (idea → deploy → operate) and publish it as a versioned playbook.
– Roll it out via short training modules, Q&A video sessions, and office hours; capture FAQs into the playbook.
– Instrument predictability metrics (e.g., lead time for changes, throughput, on-time release rate) using CI/CD, Jira, TestRail, and ITSM data.
– Establish a delivery scorecard for project stakeholders and a cadence to review trends and blockers with relevant stakeholders.
Acceleration of Software Delivery
Objective: Improve overall delivery speed by optimizing engineering workflows, increasing automation, and leveraging modern planning technologies and methodologies.
– Codify standardized CI/CD templates with automated quality gates, unit/integration/e2e test stages, and security checks.
– Incorporate AI-assisted capabilities (code generation, test authoring, defect summarization) with clear usage guidelines and guardrails.
– Introduce progressive delivery patterns (feature flags, canary, blue/green) and trunk-based workflows to reduce batch size and risk.
– Run targeted workflow workshops; document agreed changes in Jira workflows and pipeline definitions; track adoption via dashboard.
Detailed process definition
Objective: Own the definition of the delivery processes, release processes, bug processes, enhancements, etc..
– Define and maintain processes for releases, defects, vulnerabilities, enhancements, and incident response (including definitions of ready/done).
– Create a lightweight roles-and-responsibilities matrix across Product Lines; clarify decision rights and escalation paths.
– Provide concise SOPs and SLAs; set up queues/triage rules and ensure audit-ready artifacts are produced by default.
Must-have experience
– Experience in leading and thriving of large-scale complex software development projects ideally within matrix organizations.
– Expert user of JIRA including writing custom reports, automation, query, etc..
– Understanding of cloud platform and the building blocks.
– Understanding of Kubernetes, containerization, DevOps practices, and IAM/RBAC principles and the associated observability solutions.
– Familiarity with the essentials of CI/CD pipeline management, including build, image registry, vulnerability scanning, and deployment processes.
– Understanding of project management processes, including risk and dependency management and quality assurance.
– Experience in negotiating with different stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
– Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, agile and scrum methodologies,.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Fluent English in speech and writing (at least C1).
Preferred experience
– Certification in the field of project management.
– Certified in Agile Methodologies e.g. CSM, CSPO, SAFe Agilist, PMI-ACP.
