Product Engineer

Product Engineer (m/f/d)  This position offers the chance to take ownership of a diverse product portfolio, spanning both hardware and software. The role combines technical expertise with strategic thinking, requiring someone who can balance product development, lifecycle management, and commercial priorities. The successful candidate will act as the link between engineering, sales, and delivery teams while ensuring the client’s products remain competitive, reliable, and future-proof. Key Responsibilities Product Strategy & PlanningResearch market trends, customer needs, and competitor offeringsBuild business cases and recommendations for new initiativesSupport standardization of products, tools, and documentationContribute to product roadmaps, marketing activities, and business plansProduct LifecycleOversee products from launch to optimization and eventual phase-outDefine product/design requirements and review technical specificationsCoordinate type approvals and manage intellectual property mattersTrack and address product obsolescenceOperational & Sales SupportMaintain documentation, materials, hardware/software configuration, and version controlSupport sales with configuration management, pricing models, and quotation toolsProvide product documentation, marketing materials, and scope definitionsDeliver product-related webinars, training sessions, and customer presentationsAssist with resolving product quality issuesCandidate ProfileDegree in Industrial Engineering, Business Informatics, or similarStrong knowledge of Ethernet network technology and cybersecurityUnderstanding of IT systems, software engineering, and computer science (able to define specs and validate solutions)Experience with ERP systems (ideally MS Dynamics) and Business Process Reengineering (BPR)Skilled in project management, vendor coordination, and technical stakeholder alignmentFluent in English and German; confident user of Microsoft Office and BI tools (e.g., Power BI)Programming ability in Python or JavaScript, with the ability to contribute to software tasks (a sample application may be requested)Experience managing technical product portfolios (hardware and software)Knowledge of materials management and quotation support tools is a plus
